sorry for the semi-depressing lyrics. i definitely wasn't going for the woe is me, it's so terrible in california, please pitty me and my golden tan motif. basically i was trying to point out something that has stood out more and more to me here in LA: the superficiality of west coast dreaming. i'm constantly surrounded by it out here - the hopeful models who have "temporary" jobs as waiters, the actors banking on a vertiginous industry of plastic surgery, and the ever persistent musician who strives for originality in an over saturated genre. i see it in every woman who walks past me in her huge jackie o chanel sunglasses and oversized fendi bag which i'm sure is only holding her louis vuittion wallet and cell phone. her breast augmentation surgery is only made less obvious by the utter fakeness of her bleached blonde hair. are these women happy portraying an image? they are always playing a role, never themselves, only trying to attain some unreachable quality: happiness. i'm making my point using women but men also have their own twisted superficialities. anyways, i guess always having people like this in my face has caused this rant. and coming home only made the comparison between georgia and california more drastic. i love la, i just hope i don't get sucked into the materialism and hype.
